In fear of gushing over the 730d, I shall start with a negative: It’s not exactly distinctive in the looks department. It shares the nondescript profile of several other luxury saloons, most notably an Audi or a Mercedes. On the whole though, it’s an impressive bit of kit and, whilst it might resemble its rivals, with 242bhp ‘neath the bonnet, it’s faster than the A8 and S320. It’s cheaper too.
